Desperately trying to circle the Covid wagons

As soon as I heard about the list of Covid 19 arrivals being leaked to the press I knew it had the appearance of the Nats’ big greasy fingerprints all over it.

For a party that reckons they are the real deal and the only mob capable of running this country efficiently. I have to say that it’s a good job they are wrong about that. If they were our only hope then God help us all!

This shower couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery and although the Pixie was no genius when it comes to leadership, it is difficult to imagine how even he could have been as bumbling as the Mullet.

Ever since he took the reins, Mullet has had the look of a novice rider who hasn’t a clue how to hold his horses and who instead is being dragged along behind them with just one foot tangled up in the stirrups. He doesn’t know who is in his shadow(y) cabinet, or what their ethnicity is; he can’t make up his mind from one day to the next as to whether he wants the border open or not; his loose and shadow(y) cabinet don’t even read opposition press releases before leading with their chins and making ill-informed comments about them; and he doesn’t even know which party he joined.

Covidgate could end up being the biggest contributing factor towards Nats losing this election. One can’t help but wonder if the Mullet has been deliberately made a scapegoat in advance, by the “Deep State” members of his own party. It’s as if they have already given the election away, realising that they are on a hiding to nothing and are simply circling their wagons so that once the election is over they can chuck the Mullet out like bait to be chomped up by the press and thus clear the way for Luxon Liquid to come in and clean up the appearance of the party and try to position them for 2023.

This is dirty politics and there is absolutely no doubt about that because Walk-On has said that he released the information, “to show what a bad job the Government was doing in protecting this information”. But the Government was doing a perfectly good job of protecting this information. It was someone at the Auckland Helicopter Rescue Trust who provided that information to its CEO (The Bogey) who must have requested it in the first place. Why she “needed” that information has not been explained, but then, when you think about it, it is inexplicable, because there is no way she “needed” those details unless it was so that she could make some mischief with them.

The Bogey wants us all to believe that she gave the details to Walk-On, but “had no idea he would pass them on to Media”. Oh, really? What the fuck did she think he would do with them, then? Paper his office walls? Colour them in with his crayon set? Wipe his bum with them?

I predict that when the investigation by Michael Heron QC will uncover a lot more shenanigans in this matter. It will raise some very awkward questions about the timings from when Walk-On got his info and when the admission was made. We already know, following an interview by Corin Dann with the Mullet, that the fishy leader knew about this for at least 24 hours before the admission was made by Walk-On. He has claimed that he had to speak to Walk-On’s lawyer before anything further happened , but did he really need that to take 24+ hours? A real leader who had nothing to hide would have fronted with his naughty child and announced hi sacking contemporaneously with said miscreant making his admission.

But the Mullet held onto that information for 24 + hours while still allowing us all to believe that he blamed the Government for incompetence over this leak. And, I say 24 hours plus because we only have his word for it that he knew nothing until Monday (6th July).

He was asked by Dann if he had spoken with The Bogey since this came out and admitted that he hadn’t and also that he had no specific plans to do so. But why not? If any normal person had become aware that an ex-president of their party had divulged extremely personal and sensitive information to one of their staff who had, in turn spilt the beans to the media, surely they would want to call that ex-president and say, “What the fuck were you thinking?,” and “Why did you keep me in the dark about what you were planning to do?” That would be only natural, but this half-wit claims he didn’t do that, and one can only imagine that his reason for not doing so was so that he could later deny having any knowledge of the matter prior to the admission by Walk-On.

I suspect that Walk-On will be literally gone by lunchtime, but equally, I suspect he was merely a sacrificial lamb, who was possibly set up to take a fall so the Nats could get this info out there and hope that it’s braying hard-core supporters will smugly overlook the actual facts and simply remember the wild allegations made by their dimwit leader prior to them being outed. And I doubt very much that the admission was made out of any sense of decency. My guess is that they realised when the press didn’t play ball and release the details, that their little trick was about to backfire, and they decided to man the lifeboats as quickly as possible.

It should also be remembered that the spreading of confidential information is nothing new for this party. Their most recent deputy leader, only a handful of years ago, wilfully and spitefully released details about a beneficiary being dealt with by her ministry, and there are several other examples of Nats playing fast and loose with confidential and personal information to be found in Nicky Hager’s excellent book, “Dirty Politics”. Maybe it’s time for a sequel?
