The Cloud of The Long White Land (Makutu Aotearoa)

The year 2017 in New Zealand could be a watershed, or given the events of 2016, a water closet.

Hopefully it will be the former, but there have been some foul deeds wreaked upon this once idyllic land.

Of course, last year was not the first year that such deliberate and self-serving policies were put into practice by those charged with leading us. This sorcery has been blighting our once green and pleasant land for many decades now.

As the adage goes, Rome was not built in a day; and we all know what eventually happened to that self-serving empire of the privileged few.

This is the year when Kiwis really need to wake the fuck up. The danger signs are now writ large and those who cannot see them deserve what’s coming, but the problem with that is that when it comes it will hammer all of us (except those privileged few).

Even for those who have drifted along in a fog of blissful ignorance for the last 8 years and couldn’t see that the Emperor has been buck naked all along, it should now be clear that a tsunami of social problems is about to be unleashed upon us unless a sharp turn in our political direction is made.

The fact that the spokesman for the unseen puppet masters has jumped ship should have been a major hint. Jianqi is not leaving office to spend more time with his family; he is abandoning the mess he has left us because he knows what is coming and quite possibly he is about to be unmasked for something he or someone close to him has done and that he knows is going to surface very soon.

Some might celebrate his exit, but anyone who thinks that should understand that while the smiling assassin might have left the building he has left another much less smiley and more dangerous lunatic in his place.

Bill Me Later is a volatile individual and far more ruthless than the squinty eyed ponytail tugger. He has surrounded himself with another bunch of undesirables, most of whom have been elevated from portfolios they have already fucked up badly to much more senior ones that they will now be turned loose upon to deliver the final death blows to.

I still find it hard to understand how this lot have been able to fool most of the people for most of the time. But what worries me more is that many of them will still not have woken up and realised that almost everything they have been told about the New Zealand economy for the last 8 years has been a big fat lie.

If you don’t believe me, then consider this; These bastards have not been putting away the contributions they should have been making to our superannuation fund for the last 8 years. This is not my opinion; it is fact which even they admit to. But it is much more than that, because it is also theft on a grand scale. Every member of this Government and all the bum stiffs that have supported them throughout their regime should be jailed for this, and yet they will all get away with it because they have told us we can’t afford it and people have believed them.

Interestingly they always find money to send as aid to other countries and money to smooth over relationships with Arabs who are upset because we won’t allow them to ship our sheep half way around the world in atrocious conditions, and money for a flag debate and money for a ridiculously expensive sign outside MBIEs building in Wellington, and money to increase their own salaries and benefits and…. the list is endless.

The facts are that the economy is not on the rise, we have not reduced our debt and confidence is not high about our future. While it is true that the privileged few at the top have made more money every year for the last 8 years, they represent about 1% of the population and the other 99% have either been treading water or slipping under it.

The so-called surveys they quote to us to show that all is well and we are steadily on track are simply spin from PR companies hired to baffle the population with buzz words and jargon which, when it is semantically broken down, means nothing like what it appears to on the surface.

My greatest fear for 2017 is that the voters will decide that since the Little fellow is such a drip and comes from the union movement, which has produced so may traitorous bastards in the past, that they will invite the Natsis back for another spell at the wicket. If they do, then I’m not sure if we have the bowlers to get them out, unless they chuck down bouncers with every single ball.

It might be necessary for a bunch of us to station ourselves outside the polling booths ready to apply Tasers to the tender parts of any voter who even looks like they are tempted to keep the regime in place.

The bottom line is that the gap between the handful of rich and privileged and the disenfranchised strugglers has grown to unprecedented levels. This is not good for any country. If the trend is not stopped altogether and a workable reckoning up carried out, it will end in tears and blood will be shed.

Kiwis have been sheep for an awfully long time, but that is because they have always held onto hope. But when the people realise they have lost that they can be very dangerous.

It’s like my good mate Dave says, if it doesn’t change we might just have to say fuck ‘em all and cut ourselves off from the whole deal and grow vegetables. I dunno about you guys, but I’m putting my gardening shoes on now.

by Phil Ossifer Well the people of the U.S.A. have just done the dumbest thing they could possibly have done. This would have been okay...
